What is CORA?
The Colorado Open Records Act (found in state law as C.R.S. § 24-72-201 to 206), or CORA, allows anyone to request access to public records. Public records include, but are not limited to, writings made, maintained or kept by the school or its employees, except as otherwise prohibited by law.
How can I make a CORA request?
CORA requests should be made in writing to the Board of Directors Recording Secretary (contact information below). A request should clearly define all items needed so there is no reason for clarification and an estimated fee can be given, if appropriate.
How much does it cost to make a CORA request?
MVCS does not charge for the first hour of research and retrieval of public records. After the first hour, there will be a $40 charge per hour. The requester will be notified if there will be a fee associated with the request. If a request cannot be transmitted electronically, there will be a fee of .25 cents for every page that needs to be photocopied or printed out. Charges must be paid prior to receiving information. A CORA request will be closed if a fee is not paid within 10 days of the requester confirming fees due. Once the request is closed, a the requester must submit a new request if still requiring the information.
Where should I send a CORA request?
If you are seeking items that can be obtained by the public through CORA, such as salary information, certain emails and documents, and recordings, please submit your request in writing to the individual below. The subject line should include CORA REQUEST. Requests will be filled within 3 business days unless the school is on a scheduled break. Calendar information regarding the operation of the school may be found on the website. If information will take longer than 3 days to compile or if the request is made at a time in which the recording secretary is unable to complete the task within 3 days due to excessive workload, the requestor will be notified regarding the delay and will be given a time frame for completion of the request.
Please send CORA Requests to: Julie.Hoge@d51schools.org (Board of Directors Recording Secretary)

* Student records (see how to request those below)
